One of the most common safety hazards for an airline is foreign object debris (FOD) on the tarmac – as items discarded accidentally can be easily ingested into an engine or worse, strike an employee. That’s why our employees are trained to perform regular “FOD walks” around the gate area to pick up any stray items.
Last week, the Envoy team at Chicago O’Hare (ORD) held an expanded ramp-wide FOD walk to remove any debris and ensure a safe and clean tarmac. Led by the management team, dozens of employees donned safety vests, grabbed their brooms and trash bags and went to work – collecting an amazing amount and variety of debris in just a short amount of time!
