Posted

In commemoration of Black History Month, we’re sharing a series of 60-second interviews with employees and leaders from all across the company. First on deck, we’ll hear from Cynthia Patmon, who is a supervisor in our Accounts department.

When did you get your start in aviation, and what was your first position?

In 1991, I started working at TeleService Resources, an inbound call center for the AMR Corporation, an American Airlines Group predecessor. Then in 1993, I accepted a position with Simmons Airlines as an Accounts Payable Clerk.

What did you learn then that you believe has helped you achieve the position you’re in now?

My development and ability to travel has allowed me the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and countries.

What does it mean to you to celebrate our African-American heroes, historical figures, pioneers and visionaries?

It is an honor to see African-Americans that are celebrities and inventors be successful in their various fields. This gives me the confidence that I too can be successful, because anything is possible and achievable.

Why is it important to you that Envoy is a company made up of so many diverse backgrounds?

Envoy represents America’s makeup and shows the rest of the world the progress in promoting successful people regardless of their background.

Tell us one “Fun Fact” about you that many people might not know!

“Hostess with the Mostest” is what my family and friends call me. I always make sure everyone that comes to my home is having a good time and feels like they are at home.
